Fresh from his successful collaboration with Shane Dawson, Jeffree Star is back to rock the makeup industry once again. From the royal reds of Blood Sugar to pure blues of Blue Blood, this 2020 he’s chosen the divine purples — the Blood Lust Collection.
Leave it to Jeffree Star to top his previously record-breaking and extraordinary collections! This third installment from Jeffree Star Cosmetics is on a whole other level. The collection features an eyeshadow, 5 new shades of lip glosses, 8 mini lipstick bundle, 2 extreme frost highlighters and a whole lot of merch! In this blog, I’m going to mainly be reviewing the Jeffree Star Blood Lust Palette, because when it comes to eyeshadow palettes, my heart beats a little faster! With a reveal video that he always does, Star basked in the most extra collection reveal video sitting on a majestic throne with purple drapes around him. It can’t get any more Jeffree Star dramatic than that! Launched on the 21st of February, the collection sold out within hours from every website that sells it. I was one of the lucky ones and I managed to get my hands on the Blood Lust Eyeshadow Palette! Talk about a one-of-a-kind packaging. The Blood Lust Palette is a new shape that Jeffree Star hasn’t done before. In a velvet purple hexagon, the packaging is as Jeffree described “out-of-this-world”. It is nothing short of luxurious and completely quintessential Jeffree! The velvet packaging gives it the most luxurious and regal vibe, I’m just not sure how the name ‘ Blood Lust’ fits in with that! For $94, although expensive, you can see that it makes sense, the price reflects the great product that it is. Inside the divine palette is an 18-pan eyeshadow filled with all of your purple fantasies. Ranging from mattes to metallics and the brand’s new “extreme wet” shimmer formula! From Star’s collection reveal video, he mentioned that the Blood Lust Eyeshadow Palette has a unique unicarton that has bumpers around it to prevent it from the harsh handling of shipping. Are we reviewing a car or makeup? Talking about bumpers gets me a little confused! However, it’s a nice touch when you know that the brand cares about the product and they’re not selling a cheaply made palette with an expensive price tag! If you love the color purple, the colors are indeed to die for. They range from the darkest of purples to lavenders and to pastels. But let’s be honest, the color story is surely not for the everyday average women, but then again, not much that Jeffree Star does is! However, the colors will definitely challenge you to think out of the box and add a little pop of color in your life. I would be lying if I said that this palette is no good. As per all Jeffree Star Cosmetics, the formula and pigmentation of the Blood Lust Eyeshadow Palette are exceptional. Especially because purple eyeshadows are the hardest formulas to get right. They tend to be patchier with a lot of fallout and they are harder to make highly pigmented. With the Blood Lust Palette, Jeffree seems to have perfected the formula to a T. The shades are extremely pigmented, and on top of that, they blend seamlessly too. You can diffuse the colors if you put on too much and you can also layer them and your eyeshadow will still look great. The mattes surprisingly don’t leave any fallout when applying. The shimmers were the ones with the most fallout which you can avoid by adding powder under your eyes or doing your eyeshadows before your base (my technique always!). Other than that, the shades are vibrant and as intense as they should be. The shades Wet Jewel and Pink Magic are the new extreme frost formulas which remind me of a really creamy highlighter. They apply almost wet-like on the eyes adding a pretty shimmer to your makeup look. The textures are definitely original and I have to say, I quite like them! They are easy to use and look dazzling! Overall, the Blood Lust Eyeshadow palette lives up to the uniqueness of the Jeffree Star Cosmetics line. This palette looks luxurious, feels luxurious and so is the quality luxurious!
